Standing At The Cross Road (Poetry)

December air is crusted with subtle missions,
Vanilla-scented trivet shivers
upon the sudden shifts of folks’ health,
 Trees laden with amorous emotions,
Standing at the cross road,
With my pen dripping heavy droplets of blue from my inkpot,
I reconcile with our relational precipice,
Decide to genuflect toward the South Pole for some time,
Love and satisfaction are No game,
Inkling shows that what you truly wanted
may not be what I can always offer,
Number of faces,
Fictional characters,
Ideals,
Those are trivial  to me
when they sum up and hurt some authentic identity,
Not ready to submit or negotiate deadline,
Let time judge and define,
with witness standing solid and sublime.

Don't understand where everyone is getting Christmas shopping out of this. Gifts, to me, don't have anything to do with purchasing something. Sometimes, a part of a gift is what we really need, rather than the entire thing. We just don't know it, if we haven't experienced it.

  8. This piece is extremely powerful and written very well. It's so sad when a time that is filled with love, hope and joy can bring pain to those who are separated from the ones they wish to be close to. Having a "Blue Christmas" is difficult for so many. Blessings~

  9. I like the stand taken in this. Some real reflection here on what is important and what to let go of.

  10. I'm not sure I completely understand what this poem is talking about. I'm a little bit lost I guess. Some are suggesting it has to do with Christmas, I don't see it. But than again I don't celebrate Christmas, maybe that is my problem.

  19. Not sure about the references in comments about Christmas shopping, if anything it would be writing those Christmas cards to people we know only through such an annual mission. But I can see some other relationships and a tie to Christmas in the subtle missions of december, the gifts we can not give, the wish to escape the deadlines and to look far away to the South Pole and not the North. This is a poem with several nuances.

Makes me think of sugary treats that are bad for u and evil intent laden with goodwill...

  28. A unique and original writing style; and a message many of us can relate to...the commercialism at this time of year only underscores man's greed and tends to forget the message of Christmas. Thank you for sharing this. :))
