Sunday 160 in Weekend Prompts

Did you notice that?
The homeless is anxious
in treasure haunting
when it comes to thanksgiving,
Wanna to offer them a meal?
If you do,
That's a handsome deal.

  5. I wrote one on the same subject, I think I titled it simply "Thanksgiving", I will have to go back and look, but I met you on this one as far as agreeing with your ideas. Touching and human, your words.
    Nice pen!

  10. An evocative post...It bothers me to live in a wealthy, resource-laden country and see more and more people in need of food and shelter...Something is clearly very wrong and it is not just a personal issue.

Thanks for your kind comment on my blog.

  18. Ah ... the 30s dustbowl photos, so poignant . You poem reminds me of the thanksgivings that I used to do after my divorce when I was quite young. I did not wish to be alone and somehow always invited those who had no family ... it worked well and was very satisfying. Happy Thanksgiving.

  22. Nice write, Morning. Yes, theirs is a plight that none of us want. I hope you and I are never that unlucky.

I have though, experienced some really down Thanksgivings and I wasn't even homeless. Most vividly I remember spending the holiday week end in an old apartment above a dingy bar on a side street. It wasn't my apartment but my friend had vacated it for the weekend to be with her parents and so she offered it to me because it was 'downtown'.

Now Mrs. Jim and I, retired and not homeless, eat supper with about 40 to 60 homeless persons every Wednesday evening.

  26. Hi Morning,

Very thought provoking poem. Thanksgiving is all about sharing with those who are less fortunate and if the Native Americans had not shared then maybe we would not be celebrating.

"Treasure haunting" really does make one think especially about the children who have so many dreams and hopes for things to become better.

Thanks and giving, one wonders who put those two words together, but with giving comes thankfulness.

Thank you so much for your visit and nice comment, and thank you again for coming back and joining in with this weeks Treasure Theme Thursday. Always nice to everyone again.

    God bless.

  31. This is a good reminder. They need our help every day. This photo is a classic taken from the time of the dust bowl...the era covered by Steinbecks "Grapes of Wrath."

  32. Hello.
There will be an abundance of food on many tables for the holidays...& a lot of waste. Wonder how many will think about the hungry & homeless before they throw away their surplus?

    Very thought-provoking indeed.
Thanks for sharing & visiting. I appreciate your comment.
